Getting to Salamanca

 

By Bus

You can look for tickets on the Avanza and the Monbus websites.

There are coach links from Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport (Terminals 1 and 4), the Méndez Álvaro-Estación Sur bus Station, and intercambiador de Moncloa. All buses arrive in the Salamanca bus station. Likewise, all buses to Madrid depart from the Salamanca bus station and arrive in the same three destinations. You can select the destination when buying the ticket.

Depending on your selection, the journey can take between 2h30m and 3h30m.

By Train

You can look for tickets on the Renfe website.

Trains to Salamanca depart from the Madrid Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station and the Madrid Príncipe Pío station. All trains arrive in the Salamanca train station and many reach the train stop at La Alamedilla Park.

The fastest train service is ALVIA, which departs from Chamartín station. The journey lasts 1h20m. Alternatively, the Media Distancia (MD) lines depart from Príncipe Pío station. This journey can last between 3h and 3h30m.

By Car

The distance between Madrid and Salamanca is 214 km.
The fastest and easiest way to drive to Salamanca is:

  • Exit Madrid and take highway A-6 / direction Av.de Puerta de Hierro.
  • Take the toll road AP-6 (AP-6 / N-VI / A Coruña signs)
  • After Guadarrama Tunnel, follow on AP-6 to Avila (do not take Segovia diversion)
  • Take diversion 81 to toll road AP-51 heading to Ávila – Salamanca.
  • When you approach Ávila, follow road signs to diversion 111 and take A-50 highway to Salamanca

The journey takes slightly more than 2 hours by car.

Public Transport

In Madrid

You can use the Madrid Metro (tube) to move around the city. It connects Airport Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to the rest of the city.

You can also take the Cercanías trains, which get to Airport Terminal 4 and connect all train stations in the city.

It is also possible to call a taxi (+34 913712131) or get the city bus.

 

In Salamanca

To move around Salamanca you can get on the city bus. Tickets cost 1,05€.

You can also call a taxi (+34 923250000), although there are several taxi stops around the city centre.

 

Where to Stay in Salamanca

 

Given that the venue of the 16th International Conference on Corpus Linguistics will be the Faculty of Philology (Facultad de Filología), just in front of the Cathedral in the city’s historic centre, we recommend that you find a place to stay near or within the area from which you can easily walk to the venue and to the most significant sites in town.
